Unconscious bias is not always loud. Sometimes, it shows up as a pause before a name, a double-check of a document, or a question asked differently. As a brown woman working in student administration, I have navigated these silences and shifts—both experiencing and witnessing how bias quietly shapes student and staff outcomes.
