The Office of the Student Identifiers Registrar has been in touch with HoSA recently about a recurring problem where students are unable to verify their USI records through the TCSI system due to discrepancies between the name on their USI and their name as recorded by their university. An important notice from the Student Identifiers Registrar about recording of student names to avoid verification failuresis available to view on the HoSA website.
The Office reports that some students are being advised by their higher education provider to amend their name on their USI to match what is recorded by their tertiary institution. However, they are keen to emphasize that a USI is created using verifiable identification; changing a name to match the university’s record may result in the USI not being able to be verified through the Document Verification Service.
